Band Name Generator

A band name does three jobs: it has to sound like the music, fit on a poster, and survive being said out loud by a tired host at 1 a.m. The structure you pick does a lot of that work. 'The' plus a plural noun (The Velvet Antlers, The Sunday Drivers) signals garage, punk or classic rock. A two-word image with no article (Static Bloom, Glass Orchard) reads as indie or alternative. A short phrase or command (Kill the Lights, Loud Quiet Loud) feels wry and modern. Single invented compounds (Ghostweight, Cinderwraith) skew heavy or electronic.

Genre also lives in the vocabulary. Metal reaches for thrones, blight, iron and ash; folk and Americana for porches, creeks, kerosene and string bands; pop for neon, glitter, sequins and mirrorballs; hip-hop crews for boroughs, bodegas, crates and ciphers; jazz for brass, blue notes and late sets. Mixing a soft word with a hard one (Velvet Getaway, Sugar Rush Riot) is the quickest way to make a name feel like it has a point of view.
