Shoegaze Band Name Generator

Shoegaze band names do the same thing the music does: they bury something sweet under something loud. The classic move is a soft texture next to a harsh signal word (Velvet Interference, Peach Distortion), a pastel colour next to noise (Lilac Feedback), or a pedal-board term promoted to a name (Reverse Bloom, Infinite Sustain, Wow and Flutter). Single words also carry the genre well when they are blurry verbs or fabrics rather than hard nouns: Linger, Languish, Velveteen. Quite a few scene names run words together in lowercase, a habit that makes a phrase look like a single exhaled breath.

The other register is the half-asleep sentence: Sorry I Fell Asleep, Everything Is Underwater, Say It Into the Pillow. These read like lyrics sung so low nobody can make them out, which is exactly the point. Suburban and seasonal imagery (sprinklers, screen doors, laundromat light, sunburned cassettes) has become a nugaze staple too, because it pairs nostalgia with the wall-of-sound instinct.

Every name here is original and was checked against the well-known acts from the 1990s scene through the current revival, but the genre has thousands of Bandcamp pages, so search the name, check Discogs and read it aloud as a hushed stage announcement. If it sounds better mumbled than shouted, it belongs on a shoegaze bill.
