Boy band names have a distinct grammar, and each era wrote its own rules. The 60s and 70s used 'The' plus a plural that sounded like a gang of gentlemen (The Valentines, The Suitors). The late 80s and 90s loved numbers and street geography, five-piece groups called things like Five Alive or Boulevard Dreams, and compounds that promised devotion or youth. Whatever the era, the vocabulary is the same: hearts, crushes, curfews, summer, midnight, velvet, gold, neon and the word boy itself, used with a wink. The trick is contrast. A soft romantic word next to a sharp one (Velvet Riot, Sugar Avenue, Crush Control) gives the name an edge; a sincere phrase (Sincerely Yours, Cross My Heart) leans into the fantasy. Avoid anything that needs a generation of fans to spell it on a sign.
