Lizardfolk Tribe Name Generator

Lizardfolk in Dungeons & Dragons are cold-blooded pragmatists, and their tribe names reflect it. A tribe is named for what it eats, where it nests or what nearly killed it, not for glory. The plain English style gives you names like Blackscale Tribe, Drowned Reed Tribe or Gar Tooth Tribe: one concrete swamp image, usually a creature, plant, water feature or body part, plus a group word. Swap the group word to change the feel. A Tribe is the standard settled community, a Clan suggests shared blood, and a Clutch or Brood points to the egg-nest itself, which is the real centre of lizardfolk society.

The second style is the tribe's own Draconic-flavoured name, full of sibilants and hard stops: Sszathak, Kessarisk, Thuul-hask, Ixtl'ssa. These read well spoken aloud with a hiss and look right on a map where humans have never bothered to translate them. Many tribes also honour Semuanya, the lizardfolk god of survival, or a local Lizard King, so names like Children of Semuanya or the Gar Father's Clutch work as religious or chieftain-led groups.
