D&D has the Cragmaw tribe from Lost Mine of Phandelver; Pathfinder has the Licktoad, Birdcruncher, Thistletop and Mosswood tribes of Varisia; Warhammer has the Crooked Moon night goblins; Tolkien has the goblins of Goblin-town and Mount Gundabad; and Warcraft organises its goblins into the Bilgewater and Steamwheedle cartels. In most settings they overlap, but tribe usually means the whole extended goblin kin of a region, with its own shaman, totem and boss, while clan is borrowed from orc and dwarf cultures and suggests a bloodline. From whatever the goblins notice about themselves: a totem animal or mark (Red Spider, Bloody Hand), a shared deformity (Broken Toof, Crookedtoes), a favourite food (Licktoad, Eggsucker), the place they squat (Goblins of Toadstone Fen) or the boss currently in charge (Gutwad's Tribe). Outsiders sometimes give them names too, which is where descriptive names like Henhouse Raiders or Tollgrabbers of Ratford Bridge come from.
