Vlandia is Bannerlord's feudal kingdom of knights, crossbowmen and castles, modelled on the Normans and the early medieval Franks, and its names carry that sound. Canon Vlandian lords (Derthert, Ingalther, Belgir, Aldric, Gaston, Bryen, Ewgard) are built from Germanic name elements filtered through Old French: hard consonant starts, -ric, -bert, -ald and -wald endings, and two-syllable rhythm. Vlandian women (Liena, Orwen, Alary, Rayne) tend toward softer vowel endings, much like the Adelas, Mauds and Hawises of eleventh-century Normandy.
