Vistani Name Generator

The Vistani are the wandering caravan folk of Ravenloft, the only people who can pass freely through the Mists between the Domains of Dread. In Curse of Strahd they appear as fortune tellers, guides, and horse traders: Madam Eva at Tser Pool, Ezmerelda d'Avenir the monster hunter, and Luvash and Arrigal at the Vallaki camp. Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft gives them their own name lists (Alma, Draga, Simza, Tsura; Andrei, Fane, Marek, Rado) and family names such as Boem, Corvara, Kaldresh, Manusa, Naiat, and Zarovan.

The overall flavor is Balkan and Eastern European, matching Barovia's Romanian-tinged setting. Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, and Russian given names all fit, especially ones with soft endings like -a, -ina, and -ita for women and -mir, -slav, and -u for men. Traditional Romani names such as Kizzy, Talaitha, Luludja, and Zoltan add texture, though the Vistani are a fantasy people and 5th edition deliberately keeps the two distinct.

Titles matter in a Vistani camp. A respected seer is Madam or Old Mother; the leader of a band is the Rom Baro; elders may be Papa, Auntie, or Uncle to everyone. A caravan-born character usually pairs a given name with a family or band name (Ileana Zarovan, Marek Naiat), while an outcast like Ezmerelda might carry an unusual, foreign-sounding surname that marks her as apart.
