Aasimar Last Name Generator

Aasimar have no surname tradition of their own. They are born to human parents, so by default an aasimar carries whatever family name their mortal household uses, and the rules in Volo's Guide and the Monsters of the Multiverse update say nothing about celestial surnames at all. That leaves the last name as a storytelling choice: it can hide the heritage, announce it, or mark a break with the old life.

The names here cover the four routes players actually take. Radiant epithets such as Dawnbringer, Halolight or Vigilkeeper are the most common at the table; they read like a title an order or a grateful village bestowed once the wings came out. Angelic family names (Castiellan, Barachiel, Sarielle) borrow the -iel and -ael endings of real archangel names from Hebrew and Greek angelology, and suit aasimar who were raised by their deva guide or in a temple. Latin and Greek virtue surnames like Fidelis, Concordia or Clemensia fit characters from a monastic upbringing, while quiet human surnames such as Fairweather, Halloran or Merriweather give a protector or scourge aasimar something ordinary to sign on a tavern ledger.

For Pathfinder angelkin and Baldur's Gate 3 aasimar, the same logic applies; lean toward the Celestial-flavoured names if the character embraces their heritage and toward human names if they hide it.
