Stone Giant Name Generator

Stone giants are the quiet artists of giantkind. In Dungeons & Dragons they live in deep mountain caves, carve murals by torchlight, throw boulders with uncanny accuracy and treat the surface world as a dream. Their canon names reflect that: Thane Kayalithica of Deadstone Cleft sounds like something chiselled rather than shouted, Ogolai Orcsplitter pairs a rolling given name with a deed, and the stone giants of Gracklstugh answer to Dodkong and Hgraam. Pathfinder's Rise of the Runelords adds Mokmurian, Conna the Wise, Teraktinus and Galenmir, with the same mix of hard stops and open vowels.

A stone giant name should feel heavy and unhurried. Doubled consonants (Karrak, Thulmar, Ogrimm), low vowels and a syllable or two more than a human name all help. Epithets come from what the giant does or where it dwells: a carver, a dreamer, a thunder-thrower, the keeper of a cairn or a ledge. Norse mythology offers another seam, since its mountain giants (bergrisar) include Hrungnir, who literally had a heart and head of stone, and Old Norse names built on steinn, hallr, berg and grjót (Steinarr, Hallgerd, Bergthora, Grjotgard) slot in neatly.
