Pokemon towns are named by a rule, and each region has a different one. Kanto uses colors (Viridian, Cerulean, Fuchsia, Cinnabar). Johto uses plants and dyes (Azalea, Goldenrod, Mahogany, Ecruteak from 'ecru' and 'teak'). Hoenn and Sinnoh smash two words into a portmanteau that describes the place: Littleroot, Fallarbor, Verdanturf, Sootopolis, Snowpoint, Hearthome. Unova goes Latin and cloud-flavored (Accumula, Striaton, Nimbasa, Opelucid); Kalos takes French botanical and perfume words (Coumarine, Camphrier, Laverre); Alola is Hawaiian (Hau'oli, Heahea, Konikoni); Galar is English village geography (Wedgehurst, Hulbury, Stow-on-Side); and Paldea is Spanish (Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, Porto Marinada).

This list opens with the complete canon set so you can check what already exists, then gives originals grouped by those same rules, so a fan region feels like it was built by Game Freak rather than assembled from fantasy town names. The portmanteau style is the most versatile for a fakemon project because every name explains its own town: Lavaridge is on a ridge near lava, Pacifidlog is a floating log town, and players understand that instantly on the town map.

Pick one rule for your whole region and stick to it. Mixing Kanto colors with Galar villages is the fastest way to make a fan map feel inconsistent.
