Nephilim Name Generator

The Nephilim appear in Genesis 6 as the offspring of the sons of God and the daughters of men, the giants who were on the earth in those days. The Book of Enoch names their fathers, the two hundred Watchers who descended on Mount Hermon under Semyaza and Azazel: Armaros, Baraqiel, Kokabiel, Ramiel, Gadreel, Penemue and the rest, almost all ending in -el, the Hebrew word for God. Their giant children are remembered in the Book of Giants as Ohya, Hahya and Mahway, and in the Bible as Og of Bashan, Anak and his sons, and Goliath of Gath.

That gives Nephilim names two natural flavours. One is angelic: Hebrew roots plus -el, -iel, -iah or -ah (Adriel, Zerachiel, Azariah, Eliora), the pattern used for the seventy-two angels of the Shem HaMephorash and for every archangel. The other is earthy and human, because a Nephilim also has a mortal parent, which is why urban fantasy gives them a first name that sounds celestial and a surname that sounds like a neighbour.
