About goron names
Goron names in The Legend of Zelda sound the way Gorons look: heavy, round and built from hard consonants. The clearest convention is the Dar- prefix for leaders and heroes, shared by Darunia (Ocarina of Time), Darmani (Majora's Mask), Darbus (Twilight Princess) and Daruk (Breath of the Wild), which is why a Goron sage or chief should probably start with Dar. The second family of names plays on 'Goron' and 'goro' itself: Biggoron, Medigoron, Gongoron, Kagoron, Gorko, Gortram and the Twilight Princess elders Gor Coron, Gor Amoto, Gor Ebizo and Gor Liggs, who use Gor as an honorific title.
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom added a third, looser style for ordinary Gorons: short, punchy names with doubled consonants and a lot of K, B, G and R, such as Bludo, Yunobo, Bayge, Heehl, Kabetta, Offrak, Fugo, Slergo, Strade and Volcon. Several are quiet puns on rock, volcanoes and food (Volcon, Rohan, Greyson), fitting a people that eats rock roast and sirloin rock. Gorons also love family titles, so Big Brother, Boss, Elder and Brother attach naturally to any name.
This generator collects the canon Gorons from every game and then adds original names in each of those styles, plus titled versions for elders, racers, miners and smiths.
Tips for choosing a name
- Use the Dar- prefix sparingly and only for important Gorons (a chief, a sage, a champion); ordinary Gorons in Goron City sound like Bludo, Fugo or Kabetta rather than Darunia.
- Keep it to one or two syllables and lean on K, G, B, R and doubled consonants. Goron names almost never use soft sounds like 'th', 'sh' or long vowel runs.
- A light pun on rock, lava or food (Volcon, Magmo, Sirloin) reads as authentically Zelda; an obvious one like 'Rocky' does not.
- Add a title for flavour and status: Elder, Big Brother, Boss, Chief or Goron Patriarch for leaders, Brother or Little Brother for friends and kids, or Gor as an honorific in the Twilight Princess style.
- Gorons address friends as 'Brother' and end sentences with 'goro' in some games, so a name that ends in -o or -goro will sound right in dialogue.

Why do so many Goron names start with Dar?
Dar- marks the Gorons' leaders and heroes across the series: Darunia is the Sage of Fire, Darmani the Goron hero of Termina, Darbus the Goron patriarch and Daruk the Champion of Hyrule. It is the closest thing Gorons have to a royal naming convention, so the generator uses it for chiefs and sages.
Are there female Gorons, and what should I name one?
The games have never shown a female Goron and Gorons call each other Brother, but many fans write female Goron OCs. The same rules apply: hard consonants, one or two syllables, maybe a rock pun. Names like Kabetta, Kima and Reagah from Breath of the Wild show that softer endings still sound Goron.
Can I use these Goron names for a D&D character?
Yes. Goron names work well for earth genasi, goliaths, stone giants or any rock-themed race. Pair a short personal name like Dubbo or Kragg with an epithet such as Stonefist or Orebreaker if your table expects a surname.
