The Legend of Zelda has one of the most internally consistent naming styles in gaming, and each race of Hyrule follows its own rules. Hylians get short, gentle names that sound vaguely European (Link, Ilia, Rusl, Malon, Talon, Colin, Ashei), often two syllables and rarely ending in a hard consonant. The Sheikah lean Japanese (Impa, Purah, Paya, Cado; Dorian is the exception), a nod to their ninja inspiration. Gerudo names are warm and long-voweled with -sa, -ru, or -a endings (Urbosa, Nabooru, Riju, Buliara, Aveil), and Ganondorf's own name follows the -dorf pattern reserved for the rare Gerudo male.

Gorons sound like rocks: hard, blunt names such as Darunia, Daruk, Yunobo, Bludo, and Bargoh, sometimes prefixed with 'Gor' in Twilight Princess. Zora names are fish and water puns (Mipha, Sidon, Bazz, Finley, Ledo, Kodah, Laflat), while Rito names echo birds and Japanese sounds (Revali, Teba, Tulin, Kass, Kaneli, Saki). Even the goddesses follow a rule: Din, Nayru, and Farore give their names to the provinces Faron, Eldin, and Lanayru.

This list mixes canon characters from Ocarina of Time through Tears of the Kingdom with original names built on the same rules, grouped loosely by race so you can find a Hylian knight, a Sheikah researcher, or a Gerudo chief without breaking Hyrule's style.
