D&D Paladin Name Generator

Paladins in D&D 5e are defined by their oath, and their names should sound like they belong on a tomb effigy or a shrine wall. The classic form is a knightly title, a given name and a family or house name: Sir Aldous Brightmantle, Dame Ysolde of Tyr. Medieval European first names (Roland, Godfrey, Percival, Isolde, Elspeth, Beatrix) carry the right weight because the paladin archetype grew out of the chansons de geste, and Forgotten Realms orders like the Knights of Myth Drannor and the Order of the Gauntlet use exactly this style.

Many paladins are also named for their god or their virtue. "Roderick of Helm" or "Elowen of Selûne" tells the table who holds the oath; virtue names like Verity, Constance, Mercy and Valor are common among Ilmatari and Lathanderite families who dedicate children to service. Aasimar paladins often carry angelic names such as Cassiel or Zaphkiel, and dragonborn paladins put their clan name first in formal settings: Sir Balasar Kepeshkmolik.

Not every paladin is shining. Oath of Vengeance and Oathbreaker characters suit harder names (Sir Coren of the Broken Oath, Lady Morgause Nightward), while Oath of the Ancients paladins may prefer elven or fey-flavoured names. Choose the name that matches the oath, then let deeds add the epithet.
