WoF NightWing Name Generator

NightWings are the one Pyrrhian tribe whose names do not come from animals, plants or weather. Instead they follow three patterns that Tui T. Sutherland keeps remarkably consistent. The first is a night-sky word joined to a role or action: Starflight, Moonwatcher, Morrowseer, Fatespeaker, Secretkeeper, Deathbringer. The second is a trait joined to a body part, which is how soldiers and ordinary NightWings tend to be named: Fierceteeth, Strongwings, Mightyclaws, Bigtail. The third is a single grand word for a virtue, a threat or a power, usually chosen by a proud or ambitious parent: Greatness, Vengeance, Wisdom, Prudence, Vigilance, Mastermind, Allknowing.

The best original NightWing names respect where a dragonet came from. A hatchling born under the two full moons and expected to read minds or see the future gets a seer-style name (Truesight, Omenreader, Starcounter). A dragonet from the old volcano island or the Darkstalker era gets something harder and plainer (Ironjaw, Grimteeth, Silentstalker). A name that is only a pretty night word, with no trait or purpose attached, usually reads as an outsider's guess.

The list mixes canon names for reference with hundreds of originals in each of the three patterns, so you can pick a name for an OC, a roleplay character or a fan-fiction cast that fits beside Clearsight and Moonwatcher without repeating them.
