Generate nagaji names in the sibilant, Vudrani-flavored style of Pathfinder's serpent ancestry: official samples like Harakesh and Zithlarilla plus hundreds of original names for hooded, sacred, titan, venomshield and whipfang nagaji from Nagajor and beyond.

About nagaji names

Nagaji are the serpent-blooded humanoids of Pathfinder's Golarion, created by the nagas of Nagajor as servants and now a playable ancestry in both first edition (Advanced Race Guide) and second edition (Impossible Lands). Their homeland sits in the Vudran-inspired southeast, so their names borrow Vudrani vowels and rhythm and then thread in the hiss of a snake. Paizo's own sample names show the pattern: Harakesh, Hesagisna, Kesmoro, Ohvarna, Saramaru, Ussveldo, Vajrosst and Zelkarzi for men, and Hskori, Korovati, Vejini, Vikkisra, Yesmala and Zithlarilla for women.

The recognizable moves are doubled sibilants (ss, sh, zh, ssh), consonant clusters that a human mouth finds awkward at the start of a word (Hsk-, Ss-, Vaj-), and long, flowing endings such as -ari, -andi, -essa, -aru and -isra. Nagaji do not traditionally use family names; a given name stands alone, sometimes followed by a city, a naga patron or a heritage such as venomshield or whipfang.

The list opens with the official samples, then offers original names in the same register: Vudrani-rooted forms, heavy-hiss forms for nagaji who lean into their serpent side, short clipped names, and a few with epithets or place names attached so you can pick a length and texture that fits your character.

Tips for choosing a name

  • Match the heritage to the sound: a titan nagaji suits a long, weighty name (Bhadrakesh, Vorrasundar) while a whipfang suits something quick and sharp (Hisk, Ksaveni).
  • Lean on Vudrani roots if your nagaji grew up in Nagajor or Jalmeray (Devasundari, Omkaresh) and on heavier ss/zh clusters for one raised among nagas far from human cities.
  • Start with an awkward cluster for a distinctly serpentine feel: Hsk-, Ss-, Tsa- and Vsh- all appear in official and original names.
  • Skip the surname. If you want a second element, add a city (of Zom Kullan), a patron naga, or a heritage word rather than a family name.
  • Read the name aloud with a slight hiss on every s; if it sounds like a human Vudrani name, double a sibilant or swap an ending to -isra or -arzi.

Frequently asked questions

What are the official nagaji names in Pathfinder?

Paizo's sample names are Harakesh, Hesagisna, Kesmoro, Ohvarna, Saramaru, Ussveldo, Vajrosst and Zelkarzi for male nagaji and Hskori, Korovati, Vejini, Vikkisra, Yesmala and Zithlarilla for female nagaji. All fourteen open this list; everything after them is original in the same style.

Do nagaji have last names?

Not traditionally. Nagaji use a single given name and, when they need to distinguish themselves, add their home city, the naga they serve or a heritage, for example Ohvarna of Zom Kullan. Nagaji living among humans in Vudra or Jalmeray sometimes adopt a local family name.

Are these names usable for Pathfinder 2e nagaji?

Yes. The nagaji ancestry in Impossible Lands uses the same naming tradition as the first edition race, and the heritages (hooded, sacred, titan, venomshield, whipfang) are reflected in the longer, shorter and sharper names here.

What is the difference between nagaji and naga names?

Nagas in Pathfinder and in Hindu myth carry grand Sanskrit names like Vasuki, Takshaka or Manasa. Nagaji names echo that Vudrani heritage but are more hissing and more clipped, which marks them as the mortal, serpent-blooded people rather than the divine serpents they serve.
