Catfolk Name Generator

Catfolk turn up under several names across tabletop games. Pathfinder calls them Amurrun and gives them short, vowel-rich names that roll off the tongue: the core rulebook samples include Zeda, Otli, Kepri, Isli, and Odai. Dungeons & Dragons has the tabaxi, whose names are evocative phrases drawn from clan tradition and prophecy, such as Cloud on the Mountaintop or Seven Thundercloud, usually shortened to a nickname like Cloud or Seven in daily use. Elder Scrolls Khajiit and other feline peoples add prefixes and honorifics on top of that.

A good catfolk name should sound like it belongs to a person, not a pet. Pathfinder-style names work best at two syllables with open vowels and soft consonants (k, r, sh, l), which is why Ruoli or Tashi reads as catfolk while Fluffy does not. Tabaxi phrase-names should describe a moment or an image the clan elders would have found meaningful, and they gain personality when the character chooses an unexpected short form.
