A kingdom can be a single cursed valley; an empire swallows other nations, so its name usually claims legitimacy and permanence while the reader hears the threat underneath. There are three reliable flavors here. Invented proper nouns like Vorgathic Hegemony or Khar-Dûmar use hard consonant clusters (kh, zh, thr, gr), dark back vowels, and the occasional circumflex or apostrophe to sound foreign and old. Descriptive titles like the Empire of the Unblinking Eye or the Ninefold Yoke tell you how the regime sees itself or how its subjects do. Pick the name that fits your villain's size and self-image: an empire that calls itself the Eternal Edict believes its own propaganda, while one everyone calls the Corpse-Empire of Thraal has already lost the argument.
