Baron Name Generator

A baron sits on the lowest rung of the peerage, which is exactly what makes the title so useful for fiction: barons are numerous, local and close enough to ordinary life to have real problems. A baron's name normally has three parts, a title, a given name and a family or territorial name, and how those parts fit together tells you where the character comes from. English barons are styled "Lord Ashby" in conversation and "Baron Ashby of Coldharbour" on paper; their wives and peeresses in their own right are baronesses. German barons are Freiherren (literally free lords) with a "von" or "zu" surname, French barons use "de" before the estate, Italians "di" or "della", and Spanish and Portuguese barons carry long double surnames.

The given names matter as much as the grammar. Old families recycle conservative names such as Edmund, Percival, Konrad, Armand and Cordelia, because they were handed down from grandparents and godparents. Surnames usually come from land the family once held, so a place-like surname (Wrexham, Tannwald, Montclair) instantly sounds older than a trade name.
