Void Name Generator

Void names work by sounding like the absence of something. Game designers figured out the trick long ago: voidborn creatures in League of Legends (Kha'Zix, Vel'Koz, Bel'Veth), WoW's void lords (Dimensius, Xal'atath) and the Old Gods (N'Zoth) all lean on harsh consonant clusters, long vowels and an apostrophe that splits the name like a crack in reality. Kh, zh, x, th and ul sounds dominate because they are guttural and un-pretty; nothing about a void name should feel warm. That is the first register in this generator.

The second is the title. Void gods and cosmic absences are usually not named at all but described, and described by what they lack: The Unmade, She Who Devours Light, The Hollow Between, Eater of Constellations. Titles like these tell the reader the thing is too big or too old to have a proper name. The third register borrows real words for primordial nothing: Ginnungagap (Norse), Tehom and Tohu (Hebrew), Apeiron and Khaos (Greek), Kenoma (Gnostic), Hundun (Chinese) and Sunyata (Sanskrit), which make excellent names for void realms or void-worshipping cults.

Finally there are void-touched people: mages, knights and OCs who carry the void but still need a name a party can say at the table, so they get an ordinary-sounding first name with a surname like Hollowell, Starless or Nullbrook.
