Ravens have been named in stories for a very long time, so a raven name has real tradition to draw on. Odin's two ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), remain the most famous, and Old Norse Hrafn, Danish Ravn, and German Rabe all simply mean raven. Celtic myth gives Bran (raven in Welsh), Branwen, and the Morrigan, the Irish battle goddess who takes raven form along with her sisters Badb and Macha.
