Most horses carry two names: a long registered name on their papers (Sovereign's Midnight Serenade) and a short barn name everyone actually uses (Sadie). Ponies tend toward sweet and stubborn, hence Peanut, Pumpkin, Sassafras, and Sugarfoot.
