Owlin Name Generator

Owlin are the owl-folk introduced to Dungeons & Dragons 5e in Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos, a race of silent fliers with darkvision and a scholar's disposition. Unlike aarakocra or kenku, the sourcebook gives owlin no fixed naming table, noting instead that they take names from the cultures they were raised in. That freedom is exactly why a good owlin name needs a clear flavour, and most players reach for one of three styles.

The first is onomatopoeic: names built from owl calls, heavy on long Os and Us and breathy Hs, such as Hoolan, Oolu, Vuhoo or Whooma. The second is scholarly, borrowing from real owl genera and Latin: Strix, Tyto, Bubo, Athene, Asio, Ninox and Surnia all sound like magic-school students, and Strixhaven itself is named for the strix. The third is a human-style given name paired with a feathery surname, such as Ravenna Whitewing or Anselm Barrowl, which suits an owlin raised among humans or elves in Faerûn or Eberron.
