Namekian Name Generator

Every Namekian in Dragon Ball is named after a snail, slug or shellfish. Akira Toriyama built the species around the Japanese word for slug, namekuji, and named the rest of the cast to match: Dende comes from dendenmushi (snail), Nail from snail, Cargo and Esca from escargot, Katas from katatsumuri (snail), Moori and Tsuno from the snail's horns (tsuno) and body, Slug is just slug in English, and Saonel and Pilina in Dragon Ball Super come from sazae (turban shell) and pilina-style shell puns. The Universe 7 Namekians of Daima and the Granolah arc – Neva, Glorio, Monaito – bend the rule further but stay in the mollusc family.

The one famous exception is Piccolo's line. King Piccolo, the demon half of the nameless Namekian, named his offspring after musical instruments – Piano, Tambourine, Cymbal, Drum – and Piccolo Jr. inherited the name. Instrument names therefore work for a Namekian OC only if you're deliberately writing a Demon Clan character or a descendant of King Piccolo; for ordinary villagers, Dragon Clan healers and Warrior-type fighters, snail and shell puns are the canon-accurate choice.

The list opens with every named Namekian from the manga, anime, films and Super, then adds original names built the same way: English, Japanese and Latin words for snails, slugs, whelks, cowries, chitons and other molluscs, twisted into two- or three-syllable names with the hard k, g and doubled-consonant sounds Toriyama favours. A separate instrument strand at the end serves Demon Clan characters.
