Greek Fantasy Name Generator

Greek fantasy names borrow the music of classical Greek without needing to be historically exact. Real ancient names were usually two meaningful roots joined together: Nik- (victory) + andros (man) gives Nikandros, Kalli- (beautiful) + ope (voice) gives Kalliope, Theo- (god) + doros (gift) gives Theodoros. Male names end in -os, -as, -es or -on; female names in -a, -e, -is or -o. Fantasy writers from Percy Jackson to Hades and Blood of Zeus keep those endings and the hard k-sounds (Kleitos, Kyrene, Kassandra) because they instantly read as Greek, even in invented names like Eudorion or Selenike.

Greeks did not use surnames. A character was known by a given name plus a patronymic (Nikandros son of Alkmaion), a hometown (Alkaios of Thessaly, Theano of Kroton) or an epithet earned by deed or trait (Kyrene the Swift, Hektor Citybreaker). That structure is a gift for fantasy: it tells the reader where someone comes from and what they are famous for in a single line.
