The only ancient source for Atlantis is Plato, and he gives real names. In the Critias, Poseidon marries a mortal woman named Cleito, daughter of Evenor and Leucippe, and fathers five pairs of twin sons who become the ten kings of Atlantis: Atlas, Gadeirus, Ampheres, Evaemon, Mneseus, Autochthon, Elasippus, Mestor, Azaes, and Diaprepes. The capital city, Poseidonis in later tradition, was ringed with walls of the red-gold metal orichalcum. Those Greek forms — heavy on -us, -eus, and -es endings — are the most authentic starting point for an Atlantean name.

Around that core, writers have added two more styles. The first borrows from Greek sea deities and nereids: Nereus, Amphitrite, Thalassa, Galatea, Cymothoe, Psamathe. The second is the modern comic and film Atlantis, where names are smooth and vowel-rich with liquid consonants — Atlanna, Mera, Vulko, Orin, Kida, Namor. Fantasy Atlanteans in this list follow that sound: Thalorin, Selunei, Naerith, Ondrasil, Kyranthos.

A good Atlantean name should feel ancient but not quite Greek, and it should flow like water. Favor l, r, n, and th sounds, open vowels, and endings like -is, -eus, -ith, or -a. Kings and priests can carry longer, formal names; commoners and warriors suit two-syllable forms like Orin or Naia.
