Githyanki Name Generator

Githyanki names are meant to sound harsh and clipped, like orders barked across the deck of an astral skiff. The published D&D examples share a few traits: hard consonants (k, z, r, th), doubled vowels (Vlaakith, B'noor, Gaath), and apostrophes that split a name into sharp fragments (Lae'zel, Kar'i'nas, Ja'adoc, Ris'a'an, Zar'ryth). Names are short and unadorned; githyanki culture prizes martial rank and service to the lich-queen Vlaakith over family, so there are no surnames in the human sense.

Instead of a family name, a githyanki is often identified by rank and origin. Kith'rak is a knight-captain, Sarth a sergeant, Gish a warrior-mage, Varsh a crèche keeper, Ghustil a healer, and Ch'r'ai a psionic disciple; Baldur's Gate 3 uses several of these as titles, as in Kith'rak Voss and Ch'r'ai W'wargaz. Githyanki may also be named for their crèche, the astral training fortress where they were raised, or for the Silver Sword or red dragon they ride.

This list combines the canonical names from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes and Baldur's Gate 3, new names built on the same phonetic rules, and rank-plus-name combinations you can drop straight into a character sheet. Pick a bare name for a raider or deserter and a titled one for anyone still loyal to Vlaakith.
