D&D Fairy Name Generator

The fairy became a playable race in D&D 5e with The Wild Beyond the Witchlight and Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse: a Small fey creature with flight, innate Faerie Fire and Enlarge/Reduce, and origins in the Feywild. Unlike elves or dwarves, fairies have no official name table, and that is by design. Fairies are described as looking like whatever fey they grew up around, so their names follow the fey they were raised by. A fairy from a pixie glade might be Pip Thistledown; one raised in an eladrin court might be Ilyathe or Faenwyn; one that spent years at the Witchlight Carnival might be known simply as Poppet of Prismeer.

Three naming styles cover almost every fairy character. The whimsical style pairs a small, quick sound (Pip, Nib, Twig, Wick) with a compound surname made of a plant plus a fairy verb or object (Thistledown, Puddlewick, Mothwhistle); this is the classic pixie and sprite flavor from the Monster Manual and Witchlight. The Sylvan style uses flowing, Welsh- and Elvish-influenced names (Aeliwyn, Ceridwen, Emrys, Gwydion) that suit fairies from the Summer or Gloaming Courts and blend well with eladrin. The epithet style, such as Wren of the Summer Court or Lirael Under-the-Hill, reflects the fey habit of guarding true names and works well for a fairy with a mysterious backstory.
