Canon names from Panem, Gilead, Oceania and the Glade are included for reference; use the originals for your own characters.

Pick one system and keep it rigid. Zamyatin used a consonant for men and a vowel for women plus a number (D-503, I-330), THX 1138 uses three letters and four digits, Gilead uses Of plus the Commander's name. Variations like Ward 17, Cohort Twelve or Subject 14-A work the same way. Rigid systems make the rare character who keeps a real name stand out.
