Cyberpunk Name Generator

Cyberpunk names come in layers. William Gibson set the standard in Neuromancer: Case is a console cowboy known only by a one-syllable handle, Molly has a legal name she barely uses, and Armitage is a manufactured identity over a dead man. The Matrix, Cyberpunk 2077, and Edgerunners kept the tradition. Neo, Trinity, Tank, and Cypher are pure handles; Johnny Silverhand and Viktor Vektor are stage names; and Jackie Welles, David Martinez, and Goro Takemura are ordinary names from a multicultural megacity.

A convincing cyberpunk handle is short, concrete, and slightly threatening. The best sources are computing and networking (Glitch, Null, Root, Payload, Rootkit), electrical and industrial words (Volt, Surge, Slag, Rust), weapons and damage (Trigger, Shrapnel, Flatline), and Japanese or predator imagery inherited from the genre's 1980s roots (Ronin, Oni, Jackal, Mantis). Birth names should sound like the sprawl: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Latin American, West African, Arabic, and Eastern European surnames all mixed together, because that density is the point of the setting.
