In Dungeons & Dragons a dragon turtle is a huge, intelligent sea creature with a dragon's head and a turtle's armored shell, able to breathe scalding steam and capsize ships. The idea draws on several traditions. Drop the titles and pick something short and textured: Pebble, Skipper, Mossback, Brackish, Tumbleshell or Old Nub. Names that describe shell texture or a small habit feel affectionate without being cutesy, and they leave room for the creature to earn a grander name later.
