Turtle names tend to cluster around three ideas: the shell, the pace, and the lifespan. Shell puns (Shelly, Sheldon, Michelle, Rochelle) are the single most common choice for pet turtles, followed closely by ironic speed names like Turbo, Rocket and Flash, or unironic ones like Pokey and Mosey. When picking, remember that a hatchling the size of a coin may become a 100-pound sulcata. Names like Tank, Bulldozer and Boulder age well; Munchkin and Squirt can become a running joke.
