Triton Name Generator

Tritons in Dungeons & Dragons are proud, slightly haughty guardians of the deep who left the Elemental Plane of Water to police the trenches of the Material Plane, and their names sound like it. Volo's Guide to Monsters gives a clear template: male names such as Corus, Delnis, Keros, Molos and Vodos end in -os, -is or -us; female names such as Aryn, Belthyn, Feloren, Shalryn and Wolyn end in -yn, -ryn or -en; and surnames are long, rolling and end in -ath, like Ahlorsath, Pumanath and Vuuvaxath. The overall effect is Greek mythology filtered through seawater, which fits a people who consider themselves the sea's rightful nobility.

A convincing triton name keeps those endings but varies what comes before them. Doubled vowels (Suulvath, Nuuvorath) and soft consonants like l, th, r and v sound like speech carried through water, while hard k and z give a name a sharper, more martial edge suited to a triton paladin or fighter. Surnames usually belong to an entire house or protectorate, so siblings and cousins share one.

This generator mixes canon-style first names, house names, and full names, so you can pull a single given name for an NPC or a complete name plus house for a player character with a place in triton society.
