In fantasy usage a shaman speaks with spirits and elements, often through trance, drums and totems; a druid draws power from nature itself and is usually tied to groves and wild shapes; a witch doctor blends healing, hexes and ancestor spirits, most often in Vodou, Caribbean or African-inspired settings. The names differ accordingly: shamans get spirit epithets, druids get tree and grove names, witch doctors get Papa, Mama or Doctor titles.
