Iterators are the towering biomechanical superstructures of Rain World, built by the Ancients to solve the Great Problem of escaping the cycle of reincarnation. Their names are one of the game's most distinctive touches: Looks to the Moon, Five Pebbles, No Significant Harassment, Sliver of Straw, Seven Red Suns, Chasing Wind, Unparalleled Innocence, and from Downpour, Pleading Intellect, Secluded Instinct and Wandering Omen. None of them are ordinary names. They are short poetic phrases, usually two to four words, that read like a fragment of a sentence, an omen or a mood, chosen by the Ancients who commissioned each structure.

Looking at the canon list, a few patterns emerge. Some are a number plus a small object (Five Pebbles, Seven Red Suns, Sliver of Straw), often deliberately humble in contrast to a city-sized machine. Some are a verb phrase with no subject (Looks to the Moon, Chasing Wind), as if describing what the iterator is eternally doing. Others are an abstract quality (Unparalleled Innocence, Secluded Instinct), and one is a bureaucratic understatement that reads as a joke (No Significant Harassment). Iterators in a local group typically shorten each other's names to nicknames like Moon, Pebbles, Suns or Sig, so a good name should also collapse cleanly to a single word.
