Necromancer Name Generator

Necromancer names work best when they sound like they belong to a scholar rather than a monster. The archetype is a learned caster who studies death the way an alchemist studies metals, so the strongest names lean on Latin, Greek, and Old European roots that feel dusty and academic: Mortimer, Thessaly, Athanasius, Lucretia, Balthasar. Fictional necromancers follow the same pattern, from Sauron's Necromancer of Dol Guldur to Kel'Thuzad in Warcraft and Nagash in Warhammer, all of whom carry names with hard consonants and a whiff of dead languages.

Surnames and epithets do the atmospheric work.
