Mario Name Generator

Mario names are built on a handful of recognizable rules. The core cast use short, friendly Italian or fairy-tale names (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina), while the enemies are named for what they do or how they look, usually with a pun: Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Thwomp, Boo, Chain Chomp, Blooper, Chargin' Chuck. Whole families of names grow from a species root, so a Toad becomes Toadette, Toadsworth or Toadbert, a Goomba becomes Goombario or Goombella, and a Koopa becomes Kooper, Koops or Koopie Koo. The Koopalings break the mold on purpose, each named after a real musician, which is why Ludwig, Lemmy, Iggy, Roy, Wendy, Morton and Larry sound nothing like the rest of Bowser's army.

The RPGs add a second layer of wordplay. Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi are full of names like Fawful, Cackletta, Dimentio, Doopliss, Professor Frankly and Zess T., where the joke is in the spelling or in a title mashed into a name. Places follow the same logic, from Donut Plains and Vanilla Dome to Rogueport, Glitzville and New Donk City.

This generator mixes the canon cast with original names that follow those conventions, so you can name a Toad villager, a Koopa knight, a Boo butler or a brand-new boss and have it sound like Nintendo wrote it.
