Generate kwami names that sound like they belong next to Tikki, Plagg and Trixx: short, doubled-letter names for the owl, wolf, shark or hummingbird kwami of your own Miraculous. Canon kwamis listed first, then hundreds of originals for OCs, fan fiction and roleplay.

About kwami names

Kwami names in Miraculous Ladybug share a fingerprint that is easy to miss until you line them up: Tikki, Plagg, Trixx, Wayzz, Nooroo, Duusu, Kaalki, Longg, Mullo, Xuppu, Roaar, Stompp, Orikko, Barkk, Daizzi, Liiri. Almost every one is one or two syllables with a doubled letter, either a doubled consonant at the end (Plagg, Trixx, Barkk) or a doubled vowel in the middle (Nooroo, Kaalki, Liiri). Only Pollen, Fluff, Sass and Ziggy break the pattern, and even those are short, soft and vaguely onomatopoeic.

The second rule is that the name winks at the animal without naming it. Barkk is the dog, Roaar the tiger, Stompp the ox, Longg is the Chinese word for dragon, Kaalki nods to the horse avatar Kalki, Orikko echoes a rooster crow in Japanese, and Mullo, Duusu and Nooroo borrow from languages other than English. An original kwami should do the same: the sound, the habit or the foreign word for the creature, squeezed into a name a six-year-old could shout.

This list opens with the canon kwamis, then gives hundreds of originals built the same way for owls, wolves, sharks, hummingbirds, moths, bats and otters, from Hummi and Komorri to Ookki, Sprigg and Kuragg. Use them for OC kwamis, fan fiction or roleplay, and pair each with a hero alias from the Miraculous generator.

Tips for choosing a name

  • Pick the animal of the Miraculous first, then find its sound or its name in another language and shorten it: Japanese komori (bat) becomes Komorri, German Hai (shark) becomes Haii, a hummingbird's hum becomes Hummi.
  • Keep it to one or two syllables with a doubled letter; Hotarru and Kuragg feel like kwamis, while Hotarufly or Jellyfishy feel like nicknames.
  • End the name with the doubled consonant (Flakk, Sprigg, Chompp) for a blunt, cheeky kwami and with a vowel (Nooka, Saavi, Tuuli) for a gentle or wise one; Plagg versus Tikki shows how much the ending sets the personality.
  • Check the canon roster before settling: Sass, Fluff, Pollen and Longg are already taken, and the fandom will notice an OC kwami named Fluffi or Sassa.
  • Decide what the kwami is the kwami of (illusion, protection, evolution) and let the name hint at it too; Veritt suggests truth, Glimm suggests light, Memmi suggests memory.

Frequently asked questions

What are the names of all the canon kwamis?

The Chinese Miracle Box kwamis are Tikki (ladybug), Plagg (cat), Nooroo (butterfly), Duusu (peacock), Wayzz (turtle), Trixx (fox), Pollen (bee), Sass (snake), Kaalki (horse), Longg (dragon), Mullo (mouse), Fluff (rabbit), Ziggy (goat), Xuppu (monkey), Roaar (tiger), Stompp (ox), Orikko (rooster), Barkk (dog) and Daizzi (pig). Liiri is the eagle kwami from the New York special and Gimmi the kwami of reality formed from all of them. All of those are in the list.

Why do kwami names have doubled letters?

It is the show's house style rather than an in-universe rule, but it makes kwamis instantly recognisable as a group and keeps them apart from hero aliases and civilian names. Doubling a consonant (Plagg, Barkk) makes a name punchy; doubling a vowel (Nooroo, Liiri) makes it softer and more ancient-sounding. Every original name here follows one of the two.

How do I name a kwami for an animal the show has not used?

Find the animal's sound, a defining trait, or its name in a language other than English, then compress it to one or two syllables with a doubled letter. An owl kwami can be Hoott or Ulluu (Hindi owl), a wolf Ookki (Japanese okami) or Lupp, a shark Haii or Chompp, a bat Komorri, a jellyfish Kuragg. The originals in this list are built exactly that way.

Can I use these kwami names for a Miraculous OC?

Yes. The canon names are listed for reference; everything after them is original and free to use for fan fiction, roleplay, art or an OC Miraculous. Pair a kwami name with a hero alias and a French civilian name from the Miraculous Ladybug generator to complete the character.
