Killjoy Name Generator

Killjoys are the neon-clad desert rebels from My Chemical Romance's 2010 concept album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys and its follow-up comic series. In that world, Battery City is run by the sinister Better Living Industries, and the Killjoys who fled to the California Zones took on new identities to fight back. The band members played the originals: Party Poison, Jet Star, Kobra Kid, and Fun Ghoul, joined by supporting characters like Show Pony, Cherri Cola, and pirate-radio host Dr. Death Defying.

A good Killjoy name follows a recognizable formula. Most are two words, often with alliteration or a punchy rhythm, and they mash together something dangerous with something playful or retro: poison and party, cola and cherry, kid and kobra. Common ingredients include colors and neon (especially yellow, red, and pink), 1950s Americana (motels, jukeboxes, diners, cassettes), Zone-life grit (dust, ray guns, roadkill, guzzoline), and pop-culture junk food. Some Killjoys go by a single word or a title, like The Girl or Val Velocity.

When you make your own Killjoy persona for cosplay, fan fiction, or a Zone-based RPG, think about which Zone you run in, what your ray gun looks like, and what mask or jacket you wear. The name should sound like something a DJ could shout over the radio right before your song hits.
