Elezen Name Generator

Elezen names in Final Fantasy XIV are built on French, Occitan and old Frankish sources, and Square Enix's official naming guide keeps them consistent across the two clans. Given names are French or French-styled and often archaic: Aymeric, Estinien, Haurchefant, Alphinaud, Alisaie, Ysayle, Urianger, Emmanellain. Surnames fall into two families. Ishgardian nobles and knights use the particle de plus a house name (de Borel, de Fortemps, de Haillenarte, de Dzemael, de Durendaire), while commoners, Gridanian Wildwood and Duskwight Elezen carry either a French occupational surname (Leveilleur, Augurelt, Dangoulain) or a compound English epithet earned by deed or trade (Wyrmblood, Greystone).

The two clans differ in flavor rather than grammar. Wildwood Elezen, the majority in Gridania and Ishgard, favor brighter names, and Ishgard's Temple Knights are addressed with the honorific Ser (Ser Adelphel, Ser Grinnaux). Duskwight Elezen, the reclusive cave-dwellers of the Black Shroud, share the same French given names but their surnames lean toward stone, shadow and depth, and they tend to avoid noble particles.

When creating an Elezen, decide on clan and social class first. A Fortemps knight, a Gridanian conjurer and a Duskwight bandit will all sound French, but the surname tells the reader which one you are.
