Hyur are the humans of Final Fantasy XIV, and their names are the easiest to get right because Square Enix's official naming conventions tie each clan to a real-world flavor. Midlanders, the most common clan, use English-style names: a familiar given name and a surname that is either an occupational or place name (Waters, Cotter, Ashcroft, Forrest) or an old English word compound. Some Highlanders in the game (Raubahn Aldynn, Lyse Hext, Ilberd Feare) have shorter, punchier surnames, so a Highlander does not need a long compound to be lore-friendly. Older Anglo-Saxon-style compounds like Beorhtnoth Ironside or Godgifu Fairspin also read as Highlander and are popular with roleplayers.

Because Hyur names look like real names, the main risk is picking something too modern. Stick to names that would fit a medieval or Victorian novel and you will fit in anywhere from Gridania to the Rising Stones.
