DnD Monster Name Generator

D&D monster names split into two jobs. A creature type needs a name that reads like a bestiary entry: one or two plain words that tell the table what it does before the DM describes it, the way owlbear, rust monster, gelatinous cube and purple worm do. Homebrew types work best when they follow that habit, so this generator leans on compounds like Gravethorn Stalker, Cinderwasp and Ossuary Crawler, where the first half sets the habitat or material and the second the body plan or behaviour.

A named monster, the one at the end of the dungeon, needs something different. Players remember a boss by a proper name plus the thing it does, so you will also find individuals here: guttural brute names (Grulzhak, Thrak Bonebreaker), sibilant aberration names full of double consonants and apostrophes (Ssathiss, Yl'qeth), Infernal-sounding fiends (Baelgorath, Mal'Zarrak), draconic names with hard x and th sounds (Vyrrthax, Ashkaraxis), and undead with titles that were once human (Gravelord Orrin, the Drowned Lady of Vaelish). A handful of folk names are included too, because villagers never call a thing by its scholarly name; they call it Old Lanternjaw.

Pick the style that matches the creature's origin and give a boss two names, the local one and the true one, so the players can feel clever when they connect them.
