Beholder Name Generator

Beholders are the iconic Dungeons & Dragons aberration: a floating sphere of teeth and eyestalks that believes itself the pinnacle of creation and regards every other beholder as a flawed copy. Their names reflect that alien arrogance. Volo's Guide to Monsters explains that beholders' true names are unpronounceable in Common, so each chooses a name for use with lesser creatures, and the examples it gives (Barixis, Derukoskai, Kixxaka, Selthdrych, Ssaraxlach, Velxer) set the house style: heavy on x, z, k, and doubled consonants, often ending in a hard stop.

The famous canon beholders follow suit. Xanathar, the crime lord of Skullport, is technically a title passed between beholders (the current one was born Zushaxx). Karazikar rules a level of Undermountain; Xantam appears in Baldur's Gate; and Gzemnid and the Great Mother are the beholder gods. Because beholders are paranoid narcissists, they also collect grandiose epithets: the Unblinking, the Ninefold Gaze, the Eye Tyrant. Death tyrants, elder orbs, gauths, and spectators can carry the same names with a descriptor added.

The list here follows those conventions: single alien names of one to four syllables, apostrophe-broken names for a more inhuman feel, self-bestowed titles, and full name-plus-epithet combinations ready for a campaign villain or a lair-boss stat block.
