Disgaea names run on tonal whiplash. Nippon Ichi pairs grand demonic names – Laharl, Valvatorez, Void Dark, Krichevskoy – with the utterly mundane and the edible: Mid-Boss, Mr. Champloo, Raspberyl, Almaz von Almadine Adamant, Master Big Star. Angels of Celestia get soft, floral names (Flonne, Artina, Vulcanus, Lamington), while Japanese-flavored casts like Yukimaru, Fubuki, Fuka Kazamatsuri and Disgaea 7's Fuji, Pirilika and Higan Zesshousai bring in samurai and hinomoto flavor. Prinnies, of course, are simply Prinny plus a rank or a joke, dood.

That contrast is the whole trick to a good Disgaea name. Overlords should sound like they take themselves far too seriously (Overlord Zephyrax, Demon Lord Tsundelia), vassals and generic recruits should sound like they were named by a bored demon (Vassal Grubbins, Prinny Waddles), and the humor comes from lining them up on the same roster. Because most of the party in any Disgaea game is generic-class characters you create yourself – Warriors, Mages, Nekomata, Succubi, Skulls, Valkyries – the list includes class-prefixed names ready to type into the Dark Assembly's recruit screen.
