Generate names for fan characters in the world of Bendy and the Ink Machine: rubber-hose toon stars like Wink the Whistling Cat and Polly Angelcake, studio staff such as Clarence Dunn, inker, and ink creatures like The Stained Usher. Cartoon short titles, studio floors, machines and theme park rides are in the list too.

About Bendy names

Names in Bendy and the Ink Machine and its sequels come in three patterns. Toons sound like rubber-hose stars of the 1930s: a short, bouncy first name with an animal or a sweet stage surname, as in Boris the Wolf and Alice Angel. Studio staff have plain American names of the period and are remembered by their jobs, like Sammy Lawrence the music director or Wally Franks the janitor. Ink creatures go by a title or a twisted form instead: The Projectionist, Brute Boris, the Searchers.

This list follows those patterns for fan characters. It has toon stars such as Wink the Whistling Cat and Polly Angelcake, toon gangs and trios, staff who each carry a studio job (Clarence Dunn, inker; Mabel Hart of Ink and Paint), and ink creatures like The Stained Usher and The Hollow Ones. Around the cast are cartoon short titles, studio departments, floors and machines, and theme park rides and mascots. A small share of the entries are names from the games, kept as style anchors and named in the questions below. The rest are original.

The setting is spooky, never gruesome. A cheerful toon name on a dripping, off-model figure does the work: keep the name friendly and let the ink be the scary part.

How to choose Bendy names

  • Give a toon a first name of one or two syllables and an animal or an act. Tilly the Tap-Dancing Mouse reads like a title card, which is what a studio star's name is for.
  • Give every staff member a job. Lester Boyle, projectionist tells you where he worked, what he saw and which floor his audio log would turn up on.
  • For an ink creature, drop the personal name and keep the role (The Reel Keeper), or put one adjective in front of a toon's name (Crooked Wink) to show what the ink did to it.
  • Name the cartoon before the character. A short title like Boiler Room Boogie or Skating on Thin Ink gives your toon a first appearance and a poster to hang in the hallway.
  • Keep it spooky and bloodless. Smudged, flickering, hollow and unfinished suit this world better than anything gory.

Frequently asked questions

Does this list have all the Bendy characters' names?

No, and it is not meant as a cast list. A small share of the entries are names from the games, kept as style anchors: Bendy, Boris the Wolf, Alice Angel, The Butcher Gang, Charley, Barley, Edgar, Joey Drew, Henry Stein, Sammy Lawrence, Wally Franks, Susie Campbell, Allison Pendle, Thomas Connor, Norman Polk, Bertrum Piedmont, Lacie Benton, Grant Cohen, Shawn Flynn, Jack Fain, The Projectionist, Brute Boris, The Ink Demon, The Searchers, The Lost Ones, Bendy Land, Tombstone Picnic, The Dancing Demon, Sent From Above, The Ink Machine and Joey Drew Studios. Every other name is an original in the same patterns, made for fan characters.

How do I name a Bendy fan character?

Decide first which of the three kinds it is. A toon gets a stage name such as Rufus the Hound or Dottie Halo, a studio worker gets a period name and a job such as Irene Faulk, cel painter, and an ink creature gets a title such as The Night Inker. Many fan characters use two names: the worker they were and the creature they became.

What are the short titles, floors and rides for?

They build the studio around your character. Titles like Graveyard Giggles or Halo, Goodbye work as posters and film reels, places like The Pipe Gallery and Pump Station No. 4 work as map locations, and rides like The Whirling Halo suit a park level in a fan game or comic.

Is this page connected to the makers of the Bendy games?

No. It is a fan-made list for stories, art, role-play and fan games, and it has no connection to the people who make the games. The names that come from the games belong to their creators, so keep them to fan work.
