Poppy Playtime names work on one joke: the sweeter the toy name, the worse the thing wearing it. Playtime Co. products follow a few house styles. The oldest toys rhyme or double up (Huggy Wuggy, Kissy Missy, Bunzo Bunny, Boxy Boo), the Smiling Critters line fuses an animal with a feeling or activity into one word (CatNap, DogDay, KickinChicken, PickyPiggy, CraftyCorn, Hoppy Hopscotch), family toys use a role plus a descriptor (Mommy Long Legs, Daddy Long Legs, Baby Long Legs) and the school set uses a title (Miss Delight). Alliteration is everywhere, and names almost always sound like something printed on a 1990s toy box.

Behind the toys are the experiments and the people. The Bigger Bodies Initiative gives monsters numbers and the Prototype a title instead of a name, while the human cast uses plain, slightly old-fashioned names: Elliot Ludwig, Leith Pierre, Stella Greyber, Harley Sawyer, Theodore Grambell. A good OC needs both layers, a cute toy name and a mundane human one for the employee or Playcare orphan it was made from.
