Animatronic Name Generator

Animatronic names work because of a mismatch: the name is written for a six-year-old's birthday party, and the character is a four-hundred-pound machine that stares. The real restaurant bands of the 1980s set the template. Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre and ShowBiz Pizza's Rock-afire Explosion gave their robots friendly first names and animal or pun surnames, and Five Nights at Freddy's copied that exactly with Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken and Foxy the Pirate Fox. So the baseline for any animatronic is a chirpy, alliterative mascot name: Benny Bramblebear, Penny Pawprint, Rocko Raccoon.

From there, names branch by role. Show crews get a theme (pirate cove, space station, Wild West saloon, candy shop) and every character's name plays to it, which is why Captain Saltbeard and First Mate Flapjack belong on the same stage. Damaged or repurposed versions take a single state word, Withered, Phantom, Molten, Scrap, in front of the original name. And the genuinely frightening ones drop the cheer entirely: The Hollow Hare, The Stringless Marionette, Wirejaw, the Thing in Parts and Service, or a bare unit designation like Endo-Prime.
