Worgen in World of Warcraft are the cursed people of Gilneas, a walled Victorian-Gothic kingdom, and their names reflect that far more than their wolf forms do. Genn Greymane, Darius Crowley, Lorna Crowley, Tess Greymane, Tobias Mistmantle, Krennan Aranas, and Lord Godfrey are all recognizably English: old-fashioned given names paired with surnames that would not look out of place in a nineteenth-century London registry. A convincing worgen name is a Gilnean human name first and a werewolf name a distant second.

Gilnean surnames fall into a few families. Some are real English names (Crowley, Walden, Godfrey, Hewell). Others are compound place-style names built from Grey, Ash, Black, Raven, Thorn, and Wood (Greymane, Ashbury, Blackwell, Ravenshaw). Nobility carries titles such as Lord, Lady, Baron, and Sir, and the harvest-witches of Gilneas use religious-sounding forms like Celestine of the Harvest. Only a minority of worgen, usually feral packs like Ivar Bloodfang's, adopt overtly wolfish epithets, so use names like Duskhowl or Greymaw sparingly and deliberately.
