Wiccan Name Generator

In Wicca, a craft name (also called a magical name or Circle name) is the name a practitioner takes on at dedication or initiation and uses in ritual, in the coven, and often online. Traditionally it is chosen rather than assigned: some Wiccans meditate or divine for it, some are given one by a High Priestess, and many simply pick a name that expresses the path they want to walk. The classic sources are the natural world (Rowan, Yarrow, Vervain, Hawthorn), the moon and Wheel of the Year (Samhain, Beltane, Moonrise), gemstones (Obsidian, Selenite, Carnelian), and the Celtic, Greek and Norse deities Wiccans most often honor (Ceridwen, Arianrhod, Brigid, Herne, Hecate, Freya).

Two shapes dominate. A single word such as Starhawk, Oakheart or Nimue is the oldest style and the easiest to use in circle. Two-part names join a nature or Celtic first element to an animal-and-element compound (Rowan Moonshadow, Juniper Greymist, Corvus Ravenfeather); the "Silver RavenWolf" pattern belongs here. Some lineages add Lady or Lord for elders, but that title is earned, not chosen.

A good craft name feels like yours when spoken aloud at the altar. Favor one or two images over a pile-up of moons, wolves and shadows, and check the meaning of any deity name before you adopt it.
