Undertale Name Generator

Undertale names follow a handful of jokes that Toby Fox commits to completely, and an OC name sounds right when it plays by the same rules. Skeletons are named after fonts: Sans is Comic Sans, Papyrus is Papyrus, and Gaster speaks in Wingdings, so a new skeleton works best as Arial, Garamond, Bodoni or Courier. Ordinary monsters are puns or squashed descriptions of what they are, like Woshua the washing-tub, Vegetoid, Moldsmal, Tsunderplane and Napstablook. Boss monsters and royalty get softer, more regal names such as Toriel, Asgore and Asriel, and the Dreemurr surname is built from a letter-shuffle joke.

Humans are the opposite: short, quiet and gender-neutral. Frisk, Chara and Kris are all one syllable, and the fallen humans are remembered by their SOUL traits rather than names, which is why fan names like Patience or Justice stick. Deltarune widened the palette with Darkners named after the objects they came from (Rouxls Kaard, Tasque Manager, Rudinn) and Hometown residents with normal full names like Noelle Holiday.

This generator mixes canon characters, for reference, with original names in each of those registers. Pick a style that matches your character's role first: a font for a skeleton, a pun for a background monster, a gentle two-syllable name for a boss monster, and something plain and short for a human.
